**Update** Still on the market as of early October and an application to demolish was put forward to the council this week – coincidence? Of course not! However, pop your corks people because the foot soldiers of the Ballarat region have been out in force (as well as the indomitable Simon Reeves) and have saved this particular property from the bulldozer- hooray!!
Well done everyone, especially the Ballarat shire for acknowledging valuable and important landmarks when they see them. This is especially interesting for a traditionally ‘goldrush’ town – that the governing custodians of mostly Colonial and Victorian legacies can also identify the ‘newer’ eras of architecture and design tradition which now require attention and, in many cases, salvation from the wrecker. Let this be a lesson in leadership that reverberates far and wide.
