For those who always post high numbers on the lotto fantasy daydream index (you know we do, it’s nothing to be ashamed of) hold onto your Panamas – a widely known Queensland drooler has just come on the market (we saw it back round 2013). It has been altered once more from the super-snazz updating we saw last time and although sometimes we can get a little shirty about over the top luxing, blowhard resurfacing and excess paint and negating the fact we’ve never seen the original build, we cannot stop ourselves from loving this. It’s particularly the less mass-attraction elements we admire; keeping the unblemished brickwork, celebrating a feature of structure and craftsmanship rather than a bagged embarrassment. Similarly those dark timber beams, coursing across all ceilings, drawing the entire low-slung horizontal structure into single rhythm, Not to mention a balanced mix of new joinery, with seemingly original light fittings, pool tiles and curtains. All in all one, for the dream file *sigh*.
ps- Berkeley Street is obviously a Brisbane MCM dream drag – here is another architectural beauty from a ways back, just down the road.
